Jamie Vardy anahisi Leicester mikononi majibu kamili ya upinzani juu ya kufukuzwa kwa Claudio Ranieri na wao 3-1 dhidi ya Liverpool katika Ligi Kuu ya Jumatatu.

Jamie Vardy feels Leicester delivered the perfect response to criticism over the sacking of Claudio Ranieri with their 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier on Monday.

The England striker scored a brace as the Foxes recorded their first win of the season when they convincingly beat the Reds, and Vardy believes the performance against Jurgen Klopp's side will allay fears of relegation at the King Power Stadium.

"We've come under a lot of unfair stick with the stuff that's been in the press and online lately," Vardy told Sky Sports after the match.

"You've seen the lads wanted to put in a reaction and now it's up to us to consistently do that.

"I couldn't tell you [why Leicester have been so poor], I couldn't put my finger on it. We've been working hard and it's not been happening but, luckily, it's all clicked

"I wouldn't say [there was] more effort. Shakes [interim manager Craig Shakespeare] before the game told me to play a lot higher and there were weaknesses where we thought we could hurt them.

"I've been very frustrated with the amount of goals I've got this season but hopefully those two will push me on and there are lots more to follow.

"We just needed to show that we've got that fighting intensity. Win or lose, as long as we got the performance right we could hold our heads high at the end but I think we deserved the three points."

Danny Drinkwater, the Foxes' other goal scorer on the night, credited a return to the approach which led them to the Premier League title last season for their impressive showing against Liverpool.

"We kind of make our game on those basics - talking, moving, high pressure, high intensity. It's about going back to basics and making it happen," Drinkwater said.

"We pressed them high up the pitch, it caused them problems and helped us.

"It's something we need to build on. Three points against Liverpool is a massive win and we have to kick on from here."

Following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri last week, the Foxes delivered the perfect response to their critics with an emphatic win over the Merseysiders.

Danny Drinkwater struck a spectacular long-range effort either side of a Jamie Vardy brace, before Phillippe Coutinho got one back for the visitors late on.

The result sees Leicester move out of the relegation zone while Liverpool remained in fifth, albeit having played a game more than Manchester City and Arsenal above them, and Manchester United below them on the Premier League table.

"If we make our best game and play really good and we lose I have to accept it, that's football," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"We did not do enough. It looked like we'd never spoken about the strength of Leicester. That's the real problem.

"I spoke in the dressing room about it. That's not enough, for sure. That's not even close to being enough.

"We have to work, obviously and try with everything we have to do better next time.  It is really hard to see what we would usually be able to do in this performance.

"Not good in offence, not good in defence - that's how you lose football games.

"There is no reason at this moment for this. You can always find excuses but I am not ready to look for an excuse."

Liverpool host Arsenal in their next match next week and another defeat will be a significant blow to their Champions League qualification chances.

The Reds have an excellent record against their rivals for the top for, with four of their five Premier League defeats coming at the hands of sides in the bottom half.

"We have a week to prepare and we have to show a reaction. That's what we have to do," Klopp added.

"We are all playing for our future. I don't want to be too serious but that's how it is.

"We have to perform differently to what we did. We can be much better, we have shown it already. Not doing it feels really disappointing.

"Thank God we don't have to play again tomorrow. After you win and you lose you have to analyse, show the boys and react on it again."
